The Citizen BL8000-54L stainless steel men's watch is loaded with style and time-keeping features. It's powered by Citizen's unique Eco-Drive, which absorbs sunlight as well as any artificial light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously. With regular exposure to light, the Eco-Drive recharges itself for a lifetime of use. The watch also has a perpetual calendar that automatically adjusts for odd and even months and leap years through 2100.
It has a blue dial background with three subdials for 24-hour, day, and month as well as date window at 4 o'clock. The silver stainless steel bracelet band is composed of small brushed links, and is joined by a fold-over clasp with hidden push button. Other features include water resistance to 330 feet (100 meters), an alarm, and a scratch-resistant, non-reflective mineral crystal.

There's no point in repeating what's already been said; the watch really is a uniquely beautiful timepiece and the eco-drive has absolutely lived up to it's name. I've uploaded a few close-up pictures that help back me up ;) This is my favorite (sub $1,000) watch, ever. Period.
The reason for this review is a simple clarification:
Amazon's description says the diameter is 40mm. In fact, it's 39.2mm, and 42.25mm if you count the crown. 0.8mm might not be a big deal to some, but with my small wrists it visibly less clunky than my 40mm.

I love it!!!, I really like this watch, the blue marine background is nice, is strong enough to receive some free fall (a couple of times, well maybe 7 or 8), and it has only a micro-scratch after all the suffer that I gave it. The best watch I've ever have.

I love this watch. Works great, looks spectacular. Feels good on the wrist.
Also, in some images the face looks blue, and in some it appears black. It's actually a dark navy. Most of the time it appears black, but in good light the blue shows.

This is my second Citizen Eco-Drive watch. My first is of course still running and looks great; the crystal has not a single scratch or nick on it. I leave it on a shelf in my bedroom where it gets plenty of light so it will be ready when I want to wear it. I bought my second watch as a treat for myself for my birthday; I only looked at Citizen Eco-Drives. I selected the Calibre 8700 Perpetual Calendar watch for its features and looks. I'm not a diver, or a flyer, or a runner; as handsome as the watches made for those men are, they are more than I need. I do sometimes need an alarm, and because I've found it difficult to remember even the day of the week since I retired, the perpetual calendar and alarm seemed just right for me. Then I learned what "automatic" means when I watched a short video on how to set the watch and use its functions (visit the Citizen web site). I was sold. And I have not been disappointed. The quality of the manufacture is what I expected from Citizen. The watch is even more handsome than its photos. Although slightly larger and heavier than my first watch, the watch and steel band are nicely balanced; I hardly notice that I'm wearing it. I recommend it to anyone who wants a watch that looks good whether you're dressing casually or formally, who doesn't need the added weight and size of a chronograph's bezel, who wants a watch that knows how many days there are in each month and which years are leap years, who doesn't need the hassle of finding and replacing batteries, and who wants a watch that is easy to set and reset when you change time zones (while continuing to display your "home" time) or when DST starts or ends.
